This is an old one. Back when Colin worked at ESPN. But after determining the teams for the Super Bowl this past weekend I remembered this irreverent take and thought I'd share it. Of course it's totally wrong, but he'd playfully knock pretty much everybody or everything so nobody was safe. My job as a producer was to take a lengthy bit, edit it down and arrange it logically to maximize entertainment value. After all, effective bits usually establish themselves with an enticing set up ending with a pay off that should result in a chuckle. Plus with this project, the added challenge to pick a piece of music that could add exaggeration to the premise then edit it so every possible post gets nailed. All without talking over vocals and music edits listeners can't hear. With his content back in the day this series of promos had long legs and was quite successful. Won awards, too. But they entertained in their own quirky way while supporting the overall programming. A win win to be sure.
