This month's Cassette kicks off with a great demo from interviewee, Bill Schultz of WYNY-FM, New York. Bill includes a sample from his Hot 97 days and wraps up with the winning Large Market Promo from the recent RAP awards! New member Patrick O'Regan/Corks 96FM in Ireland debuts on The Cassette at cut 2! Among all the digital production we're hearing on The Cassette lately, cut 3 reminds us there are still plenty of folks doing great work in limited analog rooms--this cut from a 4-track studio with only the basics! Cut 5 is a promo for something all radio stations should adopt as policy! The super production on Side A doesn't let up, and the side wraps with a couple of terrific sweeper/bumper montages!
Side B is jam packed with a lot of imaginative commercials. Cut 1 is a sure-fire way to make the client happy; the spot features the client and the client's daughter. Kurt even brings his own son, Kyle, into the spot! Cut 7 adds vocals to a library music bed for a well done custom jingle! Again, the side doesn't let up; the outstanding work continues to the very end where we wrap the side with a parody from Gray Gleason at ICRT radio in Taipei, Taiwan, where they're obviously concerned with a little more than the outcome of the O.J. Simpson trial! Nice job, Gray!
